1 year after groundbreaking, our Cathedral rises
On an overcast winter day – January 3, 2015 — in the presence of more than 700 of the faithful, Bishop Michael F. Burbidge and assembled dignitaries put spades into the ground to inaugurate the construction of Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral for the Diocese of Raleigh. Less than a year later, the steel beams that will support the Cathedral’s walls are rising.
On January 3, 2016, the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord, parishes throughout the diocese will offer thanks and prayers for the success of this great project and offering to the glory of our Lord. Slated for completion in 2017, the Cathedral will see the placement of its dome and the construction of its walls and roof in the coming year.
