Footprint of a Cathedral
On the site of our future cathedral, on land purchased more than a century ago by Fr. Thomas Frederick Price, the scene can appear disorganized. Deep rectangular trenches, seemingly random concrete structures with steel re-enforcers protruding, blue sections of ductwork piled high — all signal some great work in progress. Viewed from the air, though, the cruciform footprint of Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral emerges from the red clay.
The footings of the church are nearly complete. Builders are working on the foundation for the elevator. Soon the ducts for the HVAC system will be installed. In the weeks to come, steel for the cathedral walls will rise, like the prayers of so many faithful, to the heavens. The future mother church of our diocese is happening!
